안녕하세요!

Fnet = ma에서 Fn-mg=ma 로 바꿀 때, normal force가 mg보다 더 크기 떄문에 Fn-mg를 썼습니다.

따라서 Fn-ma>0이고, right hand side인 m*a도 마찬가지로 positive value여야 합니다.

따라서 여기서 acceleration은 크기라는 뜻이기 때문에 반드시 positive value를 넣으셔야 합니다!

또 조금 더 부연설명하자면

moving down => velocity is negative

speed decreases => acceleration points opposite to the velocity, so acceleration is positive

이렇게 됩니다. 

acceleration = (vf - vi) / t = (0-(-4)) / 2 = 2 m/s^2이 됩니다.

Initial velocity가 -4이기 때문에 minus negative value가 되어 사실은 +가 됩니다!

즉, acceleration이 설사 negative value가 나와도 이 문제에서는 큰힘에서 작은힘을 뺐기 때문에 acceleration에 "크기"를 넣으셔야 합니다.

하지만, 방향을 고려하더라도 +2m/s^2이 맞습니다!
