안녕하세요 선생님,


1) MCQ 풀이 13번에서 질문이 있습니다.


Sampling을 하였을 때 standard deviation을 구하려면 sigma/ sqrt n이 맞지요?


그러면 이 문제에서 standard deviation of the sample mean = 5 / sqrt 42가 아닌가요?


아니면 문제에서 "for a sample of 42 rabbits, the mean weight is 5 pounds and the standard deviation of weight is 3 pound"라고 했으니 3 pound가 이미 calculated된 value라고 생각을 해야하는 건가요?


2) standard error = standard deviation of the sample mean인거 맞나요?


3)  2)와 비슷한 질문인데, 29번에 33 tomato가 sample이라는 언급이없었는데 어떻게 given table의 standard deviation이 sample standard deviations이라고 assume할 수 있는건가요?


이 부분 너무 헷갈려요..

1) 주어진 조건은 sample mean (x bar) =5 와 sample standard deviation (s) = 3 입니다.

일반적으로, the distribution of the sample means (x bar) is approximately normal with u=x bar and standard error = sigma/sqrt(n) or s/sqrt(n), s=sample standard deviation 입니다.

 

질문 "Which of the following is most likely true about the weights for the rabbits in the sample?" 에서 가장 조심해야 되는 부분은 the weights 이라는 것입니다. the mean of sample weight 이 아닙니다. 즉, 이 질문은 population의 distribution 에 관한 질문이지 sample의 distribution에 관한 질문이 아닙니다. 따라서, 주어진 sample standard deviation과 population의 standard deviation 이 같다고 (s=sigma) 가정하고 문제를 풀어야 합니다.

 

2. standard error=  sigma/sqrt(n) or s/sqrt(n), s=sample standard deviation 입니다.

 

3. 지구상에 존재하는 Tomato plants의 숫자가 얼마일까요? 33개보다 훨씬 많은 엄청난 숫자일 것일 것 같습니다. 따라서, 주어진 33개는 sample size의 값이 되어야 합니다. 따라서, 주어진 standard deviation도 population standard deviation이 아닌 sample standard deviation이라고 봐야 맞습니다.
