Lytic / Lysogenic cycle의 경우 viral life cycle의 종류들인데

2020년 이후부터 새로 개편된 AP Biology curriculum에서 빠지게 된 내용이니

크게 신경쓰지 않으셔도 돼요!

그에 반해, Horizontal Gene Transfer 개념은 

여전히 AP Biology curriculum에 포함되어 있기 때문에 잘 봐야해요.

해당 내용은 6.7 Mutations IV 단원에서 자세히 다루니까 복습해보면 좋을것 같아요.

혹시 viral life cycle 궁금하거나, 문제 풀기 위해 간단한 정보만 알려드리면..

viruses can undergo 2 different type of life cycles.

- the "lytic" cycle is when the virus infects the host cell and kills it,

allowing the virus to spread to nearby cells and infect them.

- the "lysogenic" cycle is when the virus infects the host cell but does not kill it,

it simply lies dormant inside or can incorporate its' gene into the host chromosome

allowing continuous existance without harming the host.
