12 Lesson_37_Deliberate Practice Questions #1-11 12

Hello Mr. Bae.

I tried college board's practice tests(#6,#10) and practice test #5 from your workbook.

I got -6 wrong for #6,-2 for #10 and -2 from #5.

Out of total -10 questions I got wrong, 4 of them were sentence functions.

So I am reviewing sentence functions.

1.I have a question for Q8.

I get the answer, but I want to check if my process for solving the question is right.

The question asks, ' Which of the following provides the most effective transition to the information that follows?'

Since it says 'follow' I read the from "During~rapidly". Since this sentence's topic is about increase in games shows with 'high stakes', I thought the answer choice should mention high stake for sure.

Seeing that both A and D talks about 'high stake', I read the part before 'while'.

Since A had a better structure(paralell), I chose A.

Your explanation was more focused on the previous part of the effective transition, which was enough to solve the problem.

But since the question asks 'follows' I thought of a different process.

Can you check it?

2. I also wanted to ask if you can answer my questions for the SAT official practice test from the college board.

I tried reading the official explanations and youtube, but their explanations are not sufficient and unclear.

Thank you!

Hey Haewon!

Nice job with the practice tests! Getting two wrong is a STRONG score! =) Keep it up!

1. I understand what you're saying, but (A) doesn't really talk about high stakes. All it says is that contestants won cash prizes worth thousands. THe topic is about the "CONTESTANTS" and not the game shows themselves. This would be why (A) would be clearly wrong. (D) does provide a clear "link" (transition) to the next sentence since the next sentence mentions the topic of game shows. =)

2. Sure~ I can help you out =). If you could let me know what Official test # and the question, I would be more than thrilled to help! =)

Keep moving forward!

You got this! =)
