amylase is a protein that breaks down amylose.

cellulase is a protein that breaks down cellulose.

하지만 해당 단원에서 이 효소들에 대해 공부하는게 아니라

carbohydrate name, structure, function을 정리하는게 메인인데..

여기서 박테리아가 언급되는 이유는 강의에서 말했다시피

most living animals CAN produce AMYLASE, but CANNOT produce CELLULASE.

therefore, if an animal consumes plant matter containing lots of cellulose,

it doesn't have the enzymes to break it apart.

but certain bacteria species CAN produce CELLULASE.

그래서 소 같은 초식동물들은 stomach 안에서 cellulase 만드는 박테리아들을 보관하고 있고

이 박테리아들이 cellulose를 분해할때 그 resulting glucose를 흡수하는 메커니즘이 있다고 할 수 있죠.

그래서 5번 문제의 경우,

소들에게 주는 먹이를 바꾸었을때 특정 박테리아 개체가 늘어나는 과정을 언급되는거에요.
