polymer 의 정의는 다음과 같기 때문에 ,   polymers, long chains made up of repeating molecular subunits, or building blocks, called monomers.

Lipids 이 dehydration synthesis을 합니다만, but they aren't polymers because they are made up of smaller units of different kinds (like glycerol and fatty acids) rather than monomers that repeat themselves.   그런데 regular bio 에서는 그 내용이 어렵기 때문인지 lipid 을 그냥 polymer 라고 가르치시는 학교샘들이 계시긴 하더라고요 ^^ 그런데 sat bio 에서는 lipid 은 polymer가 아니다! 로 알고계셔야합니다. 

어떤 molecule 이 

hydrophobic 하더라도 대부분 hydrophobic 한 structure 끝에 OH가 있고 다른 molecule 에 H 가 있다면 dehydration synthesis 할수는 있죠.. ^^

그리고 dehydration synthesis 말고도 polymerization 되는 다른 reaction 들이 있기에, hydrophophobic하다고 해서 polymer을 만들 수 없는 건 아닙니다.
