안녕하세요, grammer peeves 6~8 질문들이 있습니다.

grammer peeve 6 에서 who vs whom 구별할 때, 질문으로 바꾸어서 유추하라고 하셨는데, I think  the way to make a question is a bit various and curious if I understood right.

For example, question 8

Marvin, who/whom the class elected as president, had to resign only after three months.

and we're basically using the phrase between the commas,"who/whom the class elected as president"

then we can make into two question basically, who was elected as president by the class. or who did the class elect as president."

if these happens, then we could have two answers -> he was elected as president by the class and the class elected him as president.

So, I'm confused with this. Do we have to make a question while keeping the sentence as much as possible?

Also, for the lecture 7,

Question 20) Theodore always tries to dress well for work.

And I understood why we have to use well for this sentence but, confused with the verbs. Which of words between "try" or "dress" is an active verb?

I appreciate your effort on the lecture by the way! I love the quality of the lecture! 감사합니다 :)

=> Think of it this way.

Imagine there are the following two sentences.

1. Marvin, who/whom the class elected as president, had to resign.

2. Marvin, who/whom was elected by the class as president, had to resign.

Notice how the two sentnces are different?

Now change the two sentences to questions.

1. Who did the class elect as president?

2. Who was elected by the class as president?

Now answer the questions.

1. (They elected) Him

2. He was (elected)

So the original sentences should be

1. Marvin, whom the class elected as president, had to resign.

2. Marvin, who was elected by the class as president, had to resign.

Hope it's clear now~~^^

Question 20) Theodore always tries to dress well for work.

And I understood why we have to use well for this sentence but, confused with the verbs. Which of words between "try" or "dress" is an active verb?

=> "dress" is the active verb.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask about anything at anytime~
