제목 [Harry Kim] Difference between Velocity and Velocity Vector
Ogma Physics 1_Algebra Based 6
작성자 yoo*** 등록일 2018-06-13 오후 8:51:50
Good evening Mr. Kim,

I have a question regarding Lesson #6 in Part 1 of Ogma Physics.
While solving the problems, I noticed that some velocity symbols have an arrow on top, while some do not.
Could you please explain the difference between velocity and velocity vectors?

Many thanks,
Yoonji Kim

I think you mean speed vs. velocity, because "velocity" is a vector quantity itself, while "speed" is the magnitude of the velocity.

Vector is a quantity that has both magnitude & direction.

"20 kilometer per hour" is a speed, because it does not tell us which direction it goes.

"20 kilometer per hour due south" is a velocity (a vector quantity), because it has the direction, too.
