Coefficient of determination의 뜻과 사용해야하는 이유를 잘 모르겠습니다.

The percent of variation in gas mileage can be explained by least squares regression of gas mileage on speed is the definition of the coefficient of determination.

 

Coefficient of determination (r^2) is obtained by squaring the correlation (r). 첨부한 문제는 coefficient of determination에 관한 문제입니다.

주어진 r=0.84를 제곱하면 r^2=0.706. 따라서, cofficient of determination 은 70.6% 입니다.
