교재 72page에, Studies have shown that eating nuts – almonds in particular – might help to lower cholesterol levels in humans and reducing the risk of heart disease by protecting the blood vessels. 를 수정하면 reducing이 아니라 (to) reduce라고 하셨는데요, parallel한 item들끼리는 preposition도 parallel하게 써줘야 한다고 해서 to reduce가 되어야 한다고 생각했는데요, to는 있어도 되고 없어도 된다는 설명을 들으니 조금 의아합니다. 만약 to reduce가 아닌 reduce가 된다면 이것은 lower와 parallel한 것이 아닌 help와 parallel한 것인가요?

Parallel 한 문장을 만들려면 help to reduce and (help) to lower가 되겠지요. To가 있고 없고는 parallel한 element가 여러개 오면 preposition을 일일이 다 써주던지 제일 앞의 하나 앞에만 쓰면 된다고 했죠? 예를 들면, Regular exposure to sunlight can help to reduce stress, to lose weight and to increase bone mass. 아니면 Regular exposure to sunlight can help to reduce stress, lose weight and increase bone mass. 위의 문장 두개 다 아무 이상 없지요? 마찬가지로 예문에서도 Eating nuts can help to lower... and to reduce... 라고 써도 되고 Eating nuts can help to lower... and reduce... 라고 써도 되는 거지요~~
